The Raptor is the basic command ship in the Colonial fleet. With twice the computer systems of other strikes, it is designed to play a support role rather than combat. Using a combination of boosters and degraders, they can improve allies systems while de-grading the enemies. However, due to the low power supply of strike class ships, they are unable to maintain these support systems for long. It is recommended to only use these systems against other strike class ships due to their fast loading speed.
Many players buy the Raptor when they reach higher levels for mining, as the Raptor is slower, therefore not necessarily recommended for combat. However, a good Raptor can be more useful in combat as, whilst it is slower than a Viper, it has got more hull points and more computer slots. Additionally, as a command ship, Raptors have a greater visual range than other strike craft making it easier for them to detect Stealth Ships, which may be increased by use of a SAD Odin Dradis module computer.
The Raptor has a role bonus where FTL transponder power costs are reduced by 25 when used by this ship.
The Raptor is no longer available as a starter ship and must be purchased if players want it.
