The Heavy Raider Fleet Reconnissance(FR) is a variant ship for the Cylon fleet. This is a worthwhile investment if you and your friends play strategically. It has the greatest DRADIS range of any strike ship at 4,000 metres and has the abilty to use FTL (Faster Than Light) Transponders. The FTL Transponder allows the player to send out a signal to all squadron members and, at the cost of one FTL Transponder Cell, can allow them to jump to the Heavy Raider's position from anywhere on the sector map, making this very valuable for surprise attacks against a squadron of opposing level players, a Capital class ship, or even the Battlestar Pegasus.
Aditionally, the Heavy Raider FR has more base power than the Advanced Heavy Raider enabling better usage of its computer slots and also has larger FTL jump range which makes it ideal for being the leader in a strike squadron when FTL jumps are needed. Further it having 4 engine slots available can give extra versatility compared to the Advanced Heavy Raider which only has 2 engine slots.
Unfortunately, the FR variant does suffer compared to the Advanced Heavy Raider in that it only has 3 weapons slots and 1 hull slot (compared to 4 weapons slots and 2 hull slots for the Advanced Heavy Raider), which means it will rely more on its computer slots and engine slots to overcome any offensive or defensive deficencies this may cause.
It should be noted that you must own the Advanced Heavy Raider before you are able to purchase this ship. You do not lose access to the Advanced Heavy Raider if you purchase this ship.
☀Update 53 changes.
- Added Missile Jammer Computer (new item).
In-game Description[]
"Continuing interface with recovered technology from the Veil Sector has led to the Fleet Reconnaissance variant of the Heavy Raider. Denser positioning of sensory input clusters and a higher bandwidth access of navigational data gives the Heavy Raider FR improved Dradis, FTL Jump, and engine capability with acceptable loss in hull strength and offensive weapon deployment.
The Heavy Raider FR's propulsion profile broadens the thrust variation parameters and a streamlined navigational system connection increases the efficiency of FTL Transponder systems.
Role Bonus - Command: Jump transponder power costs are reduced by 75 when used by this vehicle."
