hey guys, sorry I had responded to this last week but my message isn't here, oh well.
with the top drop downs it will only allow 3 layers, the top row where we currently have "on the wiki, cylon, colonial etc". A second layer where you have individual links for layer 1. Then you have the drop downs for more links for each link on layer 2.
The drop downs will only hold 1 link, if you use 2 or more links, it will either not allow the change or it will only use the first link.
If I remember correctly, the drop downs can only show up to 10 links but it's been a while since I meddled with the top nav bar so it may hold more.
Unfortunately there is no way around this and no way to add more layers or multi linked drop downs. We will have to settle with how it is for now.
I'm not opposed to the sale and size info being removed and think Oncomingstorms suggestions are good to add.
I just overloaded the infobox with info as I thought it was the best place for it so the buy price and upgrade price could be seen together and added the discount prices with them only as the sales were becoming more and more common, like every 2nd or 3rd week now, and would be handy for anyone who would want to know what the discount cost would be.
Perhaps a small mention somewhere on the page of what the price would be when discounted during a sale as I think it is useful?
I've been looking into this, previously there was an admin feature where you could promote your wikia with images and a text brief but it was removed in November 14 as wikia are going to be implementing something new.
We may be stuck with the weapon plat pics for a little bit until they new features are up and running unless their support services could change them.
My previous wiki has had quite a few changes made on the CSS with affects the wiki theme and layout. If you want to take anything from that, I can hunt down the CSS code and bring it over. Much of it can be changed such as size, colour etc.
Current differences with the other wikia are:
Font - Has a more sci-fi feel to it yet is not difficult to read.
Links - Their color is a neutral color as I wanted to avoid the clash of colonial blue and cylon red. Also, when you hover over the links, I have it so they fade to a different color altogether.
Buttons - Similar to links, buttons/button links have a highlight glow with a different color and once pressed, can change color again to signify the button is pressed.
Page edge - The edges of the page has a red fading glow just to make it look pretty :P but used to highlight the page width.
Top Nav bar - I can insert an image at the top behind the nav links, mainly used as a banner. I can make a new one if you would like to use an image. Also for the links, rather than a single color (currently red here) I used images as boxes to make a custom navigation bar.
I've made other changes but can't remember them off the top of my head. If you'd like, I can make the changes here and if you guys want any changes done (text font/color, color fade out timer, glow color etc) we can play around until we find something that we all like?
oops sorry, didn't expect those images to posts, I just posted the links :O
Ah yes, more paintshop work! I'm ok with that.
I already made some custom logos for my previous wikia, if you're happy with the logo work I did there, be as well just using them.
Here is the logo with no background:
Here is the logo with a background (which I can change): https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/432864552338731008/EyHS7OqY.png
And here is a full size background image with the logo:
Feel free to use them or request some changes and I'll see what I can do. :)
Those image theives! Jokes :P
I contributed a good majority of those ship pics, good thing someone else uploaded them elsewhere with the old forums now gone, some of the pics I took I had removed from my hard drive but I have another 4-5000 pics I need to look through to cut up and upload to the wiki when I have the time.
I have so much rubbish and old images with ship pics, icons, menu images, old and new, wallpapers, promo pics, even ones from beta, concept images and model work I've found form previous developers. It's an imagery treasure trove that I really need to work on sometime. ;)
I think I know what you are meaning. Would an infobox like the following be what you are meaning?
Something similar with a some changes to suit our needs would display all the stats, hold the images and not take up too much room.
I'm more than happy to leave the pages you have singled out (Ships, systems, npc's and Jdogs guide), working on my own ship pages grew tiresome and tedious. :P
If you're okay with it, the only changes I'd make would be to incorporate my infobox templates as I know you'd like to update the current ones you have here. If there's any changes you'd like done to them, I can see about making those edits as I add them.
Currently, I'm just moving over templates which affect some layouts of other templates that I bring over, which include some infoboxes or nav boxes you would find at the bottom of my wiki pages. (Though for some templates, I've forgotten to name the page as template but I'll fix them up soon.)
Once I'm through with that, I'll begin moving over the Updates and Blogs pages.
